The Duck-Rabbit brewery sold their first beer at their home shop in Farmville, NC in 2004. They pride themselves on being a “dark beer specialist” craft brewery. I decided to give them a try a little while ago while at the Backstreet Pub in Beaufort. Their milk stout was great and I hope to review it later. I also tried the Amber Ale, which I picked up again yesterday.
Duck-Rabbit describes their Amber Ale as “a medium bodied beer with a lovely tawny copper or bronze color. This brew emphasizes malt complexity with layered caramel malt flavors.” It describes this beauty well! The aroma is strongly caramel and the first sip is very crisp with a very slight metallic taste that goes away soon thereafter. This is a great beer from what promises to be a great brewery. They even support local agriculture by taking part in Goodness Grows in NC.

They even have a great logo.
The Milk Stout is one of Sci’s favorite beers, it’s just lovely!
Me likey Milk Stout.
Sci, Southern Fried Scientist and I just concocted a brilliant plan to write to Duck Rabbit and ask if they would sponsor Science Online. Perhaps get them to print custom labels for “blog grog” or whatever. Wouldn’t that be teh roxxors!?
