Is it an ale or a stout?? This is seriously odd, but seriously good! I’ve been enjoying Magic Hat beers for several years. They have very creative brews and Odd Notion doesn’t disappoint. It uses 5 different malts, including roasted barley which gives it the distinct smokiness of a stout. Roasted barley is only about half of the aroma though, there are distinct hints of lemon, caramel and hops. Odd Notion has a lot of personality and just a bit of bite. It has a roasted caramel aftertaste that ripens, lingering on the back of the tongue and leaves you wanting for that next sip.
My general feeling when drinking this is somewhere between an average Summer evening and early Fall. This coastal North Carolinian evening was just right for an Odd Notion. It is the type of beer I enjoy having while just chilling out at the end of the day. I definitely recommend!
