Willin’

“I’ve been kicked by the wind / Robbed by the sleet / Had my head stoved in but I’m still on my feet”

It doesn’t matter what happens to you, just be willin’ to be movin’ on. That is the theme of one my favorite songs. Little Feat recorded this, as well as Linda Ronstadt and a host of musicians, great and small. This song always makes me stop and think about all the trouble I’ve gotten myself in, the younger years especially. When it seems I might be at the business end of the rope it is hard to remember how I’ve pulled through worse.

Some might say that having a philosophy of “things could be worse” is not very productive. I disagree. I find now, in my 30′s, tht I’ve got more than ever to look forward to. Two gorgeous children and beautiful wife keep me willin’ to better myself everyday. The stupid shit I did as a youngin’ comes back to haunt every now and then but I’m still on my feet. Alive and more kickin’ than ever before.

This one goes out to everyone that had the shit kicked out of them and didn’t give up, didn’t give in. You still keep truckin’ and movin’ on. My glass is raised to you, Cheers!
